Words Are a Whisper

The song of voice, not conveyed by look

The music of love, not seen on taut thinned lips

The utterances of caring, not displayed in narrowed stern eyes

The echoes of devotion, not resounded off sullen glare

The lilt of longing, not invoked by clenched fists

The air of unity, not shown in arms crossed by indignation

The poetry of fidelity, belied by a head so easily turned

The mantra of support, not built on a smile at failure

The hopes of a future, not demonstrated in a pointing finger

The gifted heart, not conjured by hateful scowl

The vibrations of fondness, not summoned by the distance

The things spoken, not seen by listener’s eye

The words are a whisper, when the actions tend to shout
