The Conscious Stream

Rampant ideas and tangential thoughts

Swirl and eddy in constant motion

Bordered by subconscious banks

That steer them as they pass by

Coursing around stones and rocks

Dug from unknown biases

Changing the direction of the flow

To find a less resistive path

Where pebbles of like and dislike

Lay strewn on glimmering bottom

Some seen just as clear as day

Others are ripples of misperception

The stream runs pristine at times

When the heart is given some say

But when fears muddy the waters

Those fears will cloud the mind

We cannot control the journey

Of things that dwell in our heads

But we can ensure the water is deep

Thus, unfouled by shallow judgements

Be mindful of the words that fall

On the mountain of your life

If they flow down unchecked

They become the ripples and waves

Without a calm surface to look through

We can never see who we truly are

Misconceptions,fears..all can be resolved from effective communication and avoid shallow judgments.

great imagery; I can picture water taking a meandering path on the way to its objective, much like our thoughts.
