Succubus

Like a bee trapped in the fragrant scent of flower

You wield some unseen and ungodly power

Like the wind blowing around autumn leaves

You gale straight through what a man believes

Like pull of the moon on rising tidal water

Another heart entranced and led to slaughter

Like drowning man searching for air to breathe

You create want near impossible to relieve

Like fairy dust cast with some magic spell

The minds and hearts of men you compel

Like the fervor of a whirling dervish dance

You leave them spinning, stuck in your trance

Like a magnet drawn to the opposite pole

A silent force pulls against your lover’s soul

Like the sun creeping into each new day

You slowly burn all other loves away

Like strong hinges that hold up sturdy gate

You direct the motion and determine fate

Like a fish out of water trying to stay alive

You become what they need just to survive

Like the danger of a fully loaded gun

Your love a Russian roulette of fun

Like the gravity that tears worlds apart

You can crush the life out of any heart

More care with this hunger that is given you

Can you not see what this need can do

This power you wield so haphazardly

Consumed all the love that was left in me

The opening line is epic and the whole poem has a rawness about it.

any poem that has the phrase “whirling dervish” is going to get a thumbs up from me! well done, as always.

This one is so sexy. I absolutely love it.
