Iron Man of Blogging

I wanted to step away from the poetry corner for a moment, so I could editorialize just a little. I want to thank and recognize a fellow blogger for, not only their great success as a writer and blogger, but for their selfless and continued support of my own work.

This writer has made me laugh, think, learn, and grow. Only their own rarified math skills could hope to estimate the number of lives they have touched in the same way as they have mine. Not only through their writing, but as an educator, through countless lectures and teaching moments spanning a long career in higher education. Regardless of the subject matter, they have a comfort-food style that is easy to read and understand. And for me personally, every so often a walk down memory lane recounting a youth sharing the same era.

Their vast experience and knowledge regarding long-distance running has seemed to etch a sense of commitment and tenacity on them. They understand what a sense of community and support can help others achieve, and that is rare. But it is the dedication to writing that is beyond compare. This is where they become the true Iron Man of Blogging. This talented writer will be celebrating their 1,826th daily post on January 1st, 2020. No, you read that right. That is five years of posting to their blog daily. That is worthy of recognition alone. But they have done it with such great writing that it falls into the category of amazing.

And amongst a life full of loving family, daily blogging, and academic demands, et al, they always find the time to read, comment, and support our community here at WordPress. There is a lot to learn from their dedication and skill as a writer, and much to learn from their example as a human being.

Brad, thank you so much for your kind words! Blogging has been a wonderful journey, especially because of the people I have met along the way. Thank you for the support you have always shown to my blog through your thoughtful comments. You have taught me more about poetry than any teacher I have had, and you have helped me to appreciate it as such a special form of art. You have got quite the streak going yourself, and I look forward to each of your posts.
