The World We Create

If perception is our Mother of truth

If our world is built on what we perceive

Then we give all the power we wield

To those things we choose to believe

We create the world in which we live

Somewhere safe that we can call home

Our vast universe around us is made

From our beliefs and tenets alone

And in our world, no want for change

Or some shifting of steadfast views

Upsetting our world with real truths

A concept we eagerly refuse

But when we look outside ourselves

We see a world in constant motion

A changing and vast environment

As stormy as any wind-blown ocean

And if we are unwilling to sacrifice

Some of the self-serving things we see

Then the little world that we create

We must cling to desperately

Like other’s worlds that learn to evolve

We must let go of our certainty

Or fear this small, stagnant world

Will be our figment for eternity
