Piece Talks
You were looking so adventurous
And I was seeking a bit of good fun
But you made it seem more dangerous
Like a fight to be fought and won
Like a sovereign state intact
Boundaries drawn in hard line
I cannot deny the stiffening fact
Or greed to make your land mine
My south is greatly expanding
And it needs to find a new home
Your mountains large and commanding
A great space in which to roam
Your eyes beg that I come to you
But, alas, you won’t give the order
And the verdant valley in my view
Has your troops massed at the border
No want to overthrow government
Or succeed at starting a coup
It is just a part of me that’s meant
To free guarded parts of you
My envoy coos at you sweetly
My idea of ‘piece’ to you belie
In the hopes to pen a treaty
Or at least insert a spy
I hope my skills at détente
And a bit of liquid persuasion
Will win me what I really want
Stalwart plans for an invasion
Nice work. I love the way you make simple things rhyme in poetry. 😊👌

I can’t tell if this poem should be rated “R” 🙂
Maybe PG-13. I mean, the references are very subtle. But, thanks for noticing the innuendo! 😊
OK, PG-13 🙂
