Night

We speak ill of the night

Equate it with the dark

As lacking any light

Devoid of any spark

The time of ghouls and ghosts

When Hell has taken reign

All things we fear the most

Hide in this black refrain

And lantern’s but a glow

Surrounded by the black

Haunted little shadow

Intent on pushing back

It’s here we hide our fears

The evils of this place

The time for silent tears

Hope gone without a trace

It is sad we see this

As holding nothing fair

What of the moonlit kiss

Or dancing in night air

Even without despair

into night we are drawn

A moment to prepare

For beauty that is dawn
