Charity
It is hard to pay it forward
In a lost world of me and mine
Like a handful of pearls tossed toward
An undeserving, greedy swine
Without a way of true knowing
Just how these gracious gifts be used
I wonder if seeds we’re sowing
Are generosity abused
Rich doctors cheat on their taxes
Politicians lie all the time
The inescapable fact is
They never see it as a crime
If those with much will take from those
To whom life has given little
Then why is it that we suppose
That they would then give a tittle
We give for the sake of giving
Knowing not where our gifts may fall
Sincere hopes to help the living
The innate and dutiful call
Yet we should still give when we can
But give in the proper measure
A hand stretched out to fellow man
Is in itself a true treasure
Well-said. We can all handle being a little kinder. ❤
