The Kiss and the Curse

The promise and pain

Of your tear-stained laugh

Spinning weathervane

Of your wind-blown path

The life and the loss

Of your love-dripped fangs

A petulant cross

Where the hurtful hangs

The sun and sorrow

Of your heart-sung word

Seen in the ‘morrow

Reflected and blurred

The rancid and rush

Of your want-torn heart

Hope dries on the brush

The well-acted part

The depth and dying

Of your red-tinged eyes

Indemnifying

Heard within the cries

The kiss and the curse

Of your sun-dried lips

Spinning colors burst

The sanity slips
