Senryu Soul
In a summer soul
Hoped for wishes fall like rain
On a thirsty heart
For the arid hole
Longed for kisses, long-felt pain
Melancholy start
Take the leading role
Harder misses, lesser gain
Beauty of the part
Time can take a toll
Stronger itches want contain
Hope sails without chart
Moments that time stole
Ego flinches, Id remains
Clever, never smart
Warmth does sun enroll
Pretty cinches, golden frame
The petulant dart
The heart not made whole
Why is this the sad refrain
Spirit torn apart
Sunshine feels like cold
Chill breeze pinches with disdain
Romance frigid art
Love is like a coal
Deeper ditches, shallow brain
Fire will not start
Loved the phrasing and the images you created in this very surrealistic style. Great work Brad!
Thank you, Francisco! It was fun to work the brevity of Senryu into a longer overall piece. I am glad you enjoyed it!
It was lovely…you are welcome Brad, all the best!
Brilliant & beautiful! 😍😍
Always so kind and generous with your words and support! Love you for it! 💕
I’m just being honest, but I love you for the same reasons! 🥰
Gorgeous poem, Brad.
“Love is like a coal
Deeper ditches, shallow brain
Fire will not start”
Now I know what you think 🙂
Take care my friend. Have a beautiful Sunday.
You have always seen through my scribbled veil. You have a great day too!
Thank you, Brad 🙂
If you haven’t done so already, I would love your take on my post “Maiden Voyage”. I trust your learned view and need some reassurance that it is what I hope it is! At your convenience, of course! Thanks and much love! 😘
Of course, Brad. I will read it as soon as I can.
I had to look up what Senryu meant; have you done one of these before? As always another thoughtful poem. Love the line, “Ego flinches, Id remains”
I don’t think I have covered it in the Whittled Word series yet, but I may have slipped one in a daily post. Very similar to haiku. Glad you enjoyed it!
it seemed vaguely familiar…
