Touch

Many words like grains of sand

Cannot touch unspoken fears

Like soft, warm, and loving hand

That wipes away salted tears

Strong arm you may lean upon

To steady a wayward path

Remains when kind thoughts are gone

And just feelings in the past

Shoulder to withstand the rain

Bear the burdens that life weighs

These the things that dull the pain

And adds light to darkest days

Caring kiss on tear-streaked cheek

Hand held by faithful lover

Does more than the words we speak

Or thoughts and prayers will cover

Empty are the hopes we share

No less tangible the harms

The best way to show we care

Greeting them with open arms

Words and thoughts given much

Yet what little they console

Full the thoughtful human touch

That brushes against the soul

This poem touched me so deeply this morning. Words can only do so much but touch is healing. It is comforting and to some extent dispels fear. The poem reached deep into my heart because it told exactly what I personally I’m feeling which is that I long for someone to touch me. I long for a shoulder to cry on and I long for someone just to be there. This is a very insightful poem Brad. Thankyou.

Thank you for your kind words and praise! The power of the human touch is immeasurable. And there are many, including myself, who have the same longing, so you are not alone. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and needs. I hope that the worthy arms find you soon and hold on forever! Much love! ā¤

This is a lovely poem, with positive thoughts and full of images of light and love. A true opposite of Obsidian but just as powerful and beautiful. A poem well written Brad, thank you for sharing.
