We The People
There is greater understanding now
A global view of connections
An unwavering sense of touch
A cautious and concerned air
We struggle for our normalcy
The boredom of life led tedious
That fueled far flung vacations
While we fear leaving the house
We understand true heroes now
Scrubs replacing famous jerseys
Badges in place of Hollywood headshots
Leaders seen by more than words
We gain insight to real character
A sense of who proliferates profits
A glimpse of what communal means
Sharing in both fight and fear
There is the flavor of freedom
A taste that had dulled our tongues
Free to go and nowhere to run
We grasp what a home becomes
We acknowledge our frailty
We accept the not knowing
We see love in full light
We know there is a dawn to each night

And ah this ;
“There is the flavor of freedom
A taste that had dulled our tongues
Free to go and nowhere to run
We grasp what a home becomes.”
I can’t begin to put in words how much I love this stanza.
The whole piece describes the world’s current ordeal such eloquently, appreciating the true heroes, showing the silver lining, and ending on a positive note as well.
It’s beyond brilliant!
You truly are so dexterous with words Brad, it’s absolutely amazing.
Keep writing such genius masterpieces!

Megha, you are too kind and flattery will get you everywhere with me! That was my favorite stanza too! Thank you so much for your continued support and taking the time to comment. Sending you much love! ❤😘💋
Very true, and I particularly like the verse on the shift from venerating footballers and superstars to the workers on the frontline of the virus.
We can only hope! Sending tons of love! 🥰
