Tuesday Tidbits #14
Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!
The Oxford English Dictionary adds over a thousand words, definitions, or senses each year. There are over one million words in the English language thus far. Yet, every writer struggles to find exactly the right word.
The great French philosopher, Descartes, summed up all of human existence in three words, “Cogito ergo sum” (“I think, therefore I am”). Brevity should never be a hurdle to expression. It is all in the power of the words, not the proliferation.
If you pen something, you are a writer, be happy. If you publish something, you are an author, be proud. If you profit from publishing something, you are a rarity, be giving back.
Oration is great, if you can accept that not everyone will hear your words. Writers forego the instant gratification of the roar of the crowd, in the hopes that in the quieter moments, their words will be clearly heard by everyone.
Thoughts, whether sheered from the cob in poetry or editorialized as a whole ear of corn, should be just as filling and delicious either way. The only difference is that one can make your hands messy.
Sometimes, a writer’s own words, like kindling, seem small and short-lived. But they may be enough to start a fire in another, and that is all any of us can really hope for.
Editorial writing bangs on the door bringing food for thought to your conscious mind. Poetry is the mouse that slips under the door and feeds your subconscious.
Now get out there and write something!
Great tidbits! Wow! Wonderful advise and yes, get out there and write something! That is what we all need to do…All the best Brad,
Francisco
Thank you, my dear friend and brother!
My pleasure Brad!
I have been struggling to find the right words lately. 😔 Many of these quotes hit home for me! 💕
Do not let a moment of drought make you think the rains will never come again! Maybe another collaboration can get your juices flowing again. Okay, that sounded weird when I read it. You know what I mean! Stay strong, stay safe, stay inspired, and feel the love! 💕
🤣😂🤣😂 Yes, I know you are referring to my creative juices. I wrote a poem for Mathew’s request but I keep going back and forth with whether I like it or not. 🤷♀️ I’m not discouraged, but it is incredibly frustrating. Thank you. ❤
I am open for critique and review if you would like. I sent him one too. It is great to have his voice back with us. ❤
I might have to take you up on your offer. He & I talk outside of WordPress, but it is wonderful to read his poetry!!
Yeah, we stay in touch, but I miss his writing.
wonderful words of inspiration once again, Brad.
By the way, it seems as if Descartes is saying it’s OK for me to write a six-word story and call it a day… 🙂
It would appear so. Can’t wait for your next one…😁 Thanks, Jim!
I’ll keep it in my back pocket for when I get desperate 🙂
Wow Brad these are really great quotes. I think of how true they really are because of all the amazing artists who really didn’t get their due recognition until their death. These are inspirational Brad thank you. I love your Tuesday Tidbits. Have a blessed day. Love 💕 Joni
Thanks, Jonikins! They were fun to write. We can all use a few words to keep us afloat when we set sail with words. Love you back! ❤
Oh some one else calls me Jonikins. How sweet Brad. Hugs and love. 🌺🌸❤️ Joni
I just write for myself….if someone understands or replies about it, that always tickles me inside to know someone invested their precious time to look at my writings. Thanks Francisco 🌻
I understand. I started out that way too. But I will admit that I now write, not only for myself, but for others for whom the words do not come so easy. Much like you, I appreciate someone taking the time to read my work. And I thank you for, not only reading, but taking the time to comment.
I love comments….I hardly get any
I think all of us here like comments. It means a little more when we know someone took the extra time to leave a comment. Plus, it is often the feedback we need to start to hone our craft and art. I did notice that when you asked your readers for feedback in a recent post, you got a sizable response. It does help to ask, but it is no guarantee. Commenting on others blogs helps. Other than that, it is just time. I am blessed that I have many readers with whom I have developed a real friendship and we consistently comment on each others posts. I have followed your site and will comment when I can. I want you to feel supported, appreciated, and valuable. Stay inspired!
Yay! I love the Tuesday Tidbits. They became the light of my Tuesdays.
Let’s see what I take today.
This: “If you pen something, you are a writer, be happy. If you publish something, you are an author, be proud. If you profit from publishing something, you are a rarity, be giving back.”
You are great Brad. Be well my friend.
G.
Thank you, Gabriela! I hope I can keep the series going for awhile longer. You’re the best!
My pleasure. If you can please do it Brad. I really enjoy it. I’m not the best. You are the best!
You working from home?
Not working, just home! I will do all I can. Have a great evening, G!
Thank you Brad. You too.
