How Little They Know

Within those red and teary eyes

Lie all the hurting, hateful lies

That pierce and pain a wanting soul

Which seeks a part to make it whole

Let slip the pain that was given you

And in release find something new

The stronger more resilient part

Of your worthy, weary heart

For in the words that have been said

A woven path for the misled

They try to change what you see

As if they know what you can be

But they can’t know what may come

And who you’ll be when pain is done

For every harsh word so well planned

Will give you strength, when you stand

Take those words and burn them well

Let light shine where hope won’t dwell

For this much I know to be true

They have not seen the best of you

What an upbeat and inspiring piece! The most powerful lessons are when we can turn a negative into a positiveβ€”it’s a lesson in resiliency.
