But Paper and Ink

To the musician it comes as no surprise

How rhythm and melody can tantalize

In the beauty that their songs afford

We are captivated by each vibrant chord

And the gifted painter whose canvas displays

Rare beauty expressed in such visual ways

Knows full well that it is parcel and part

Of drawing us into their world with art

The sculptor’s hands are covered with dust

A proud image captured in a marbled bust

They remove the unwanted from the stone

And in what remains a perfection shown

The lines and designs of the architect

Are found in the structures they erect

From the spires tall to the tiled flooring

A permanent monument so alluring

The succulent and savory a chef creates

Feasted grace served on fine china plates

Delightful blend of proteins and starch

Are the magic behind their culinary arts

Designer sews splendor with great appeal

The fashionable look and how wearing feels

In texture and color, they meld a splendor

In all the clothing their stitchings render

But, alas, the poet is not given such things

Our words in short rows is all we can bring

To show hoped beauty, make reader think

Our only medium is but paper and ink

A tribute to artist of all types. And while poets may not get the recognition of other artists, I don’t think any of them have the equivalent of a poet laureate! πŸ™‚

Very cleaver Brad. A nice comparison of the arts my friend. I would like to have Francisco’s multiple talents in the arts. Accomplished poet, painter and gifted jazz musician. I think us artsy types have many gifts. Our imagination is our guide many times. Great poem Brad. I have to think of a nickname for you. Have a wonderful and inspiring day. Sending love to you from Jonikins in NC. 🌺🌸😘❀️
