The History of Truth

To the victor is left the history

Triumphant words recorded

Real truth left a mystery

Only good light is afforded

Founders at Independence hall

Told of the birth of our nation

History keeps the words small

About Indian reservations

Southern states had lost the war

Replaced by Jim Crow laws

Freedom that the North fought for

Emancipation not real at all

Pearl Harbor bombed in infamy

But it’s slanted eyes that grow damp

For we forget the tragedy

Of Japanese internment camps

Towers fall, our great emblem

And our hate rallies a nation

But we forget that to them

We’re the army of occupation

To easy we pick what is said

As absence makes true moot

Our mistakes and where they led

Somehow hidden in our truth
