Why I Ride

The lilac in hedgerow grown

A scent I have always known

Aroma provokes a sigh

As happily I roll on by

The chill on morning breeze

Like the shade from the trees

Is just part of what you feel

Gliding by on two wheels

You see the children as you pass

But I can hear their youthful laugh

For the song on the radio

Is the only sound you know

Tinted windows block the sun

Scenery killed for comfort won

Yet I see everything

Even birds above on wing

Exposed is where I find

A peace to turbulent mind

Connection to world outside

That is why I ride
