Protest

Dissent is a cornerstone of Democracy

A right to express what you believe

But when riddled with hypocrisy

The words seemed geared to deceive

Violence used to denounce the same

And the destruction of otherโ€™s property

Forces a just cause to share the blame

And real change becomes the casualty

Raise your voice for all to hear

Raise the banner for a better world

Make the dialogue more clear

But leave the angry stones un-hurled

To create change we must set the example

A vision of our more perfected life

But violence is seen as just a sample

Of the same world with different strife

Let us come together in solidarity

Force the changes we so desperate need

But peace should not be the rarity

It should be the movements only creed

Well said, Brad. Like you, Iโ€™m in favor of the protests, but I donโ€™t think the violence and looting does anything except to distract from the reason for the protests. We need people like Gandhi and MLK…
