Speak Out

Every person deserves a certain

Quality of life behind the curtain

Unscarred by the old thoughts

Awash in the freedom bought

Living a life that they choose

Implored to share their truths

To lead their life without fear

Yield not, when hate is near

Forgetting not what asked

Or forgiving for the past

Renew the bond of man

Ascent to a different plan

Live as if each a brother

Love given one another

Perhaps the day will come

Each person will be the sum

Of everything they do

Portray a love that’s true

Let this be our creation

Expect more of our nation

Silence is not persuasion

  1. Not only are your words a fire of truth needing lit under some still today, but the way you intertwined the first letter of each line to spell “EQUALITY FOR ALL PEOPLE” gives yet another testament to your writing skills. Really loved this one!

Thanks, sis! Acrositic poems are always challenging and fun to write. I am currently working on an unusual acrostic style and will post it if I ever get it figured out. Thanks for all the love and support!

First Brad I simply love the picture you chose. It looks like a little female giving the man of the house a few serious words. So sweet.

Your poetry is strong, graceful and so poignant today. Everything you said is so true. I truly hope that this β€œwake up” call will change people in some way. I hope we can all be a light for others and be kinder to one another in our world. I really love this Brad. Thanks for sharing. I hope you and all your loved ones have an amazing weekend. Sending lots of love, hugs and flowers to share with everyone you pass (of course with mask and safe distance). πŸ’•πŸŒΈπŸŒΊβ€οΈπŸ’πŸ€— Jonikins

Thank you, Jonikins! I thought the picture was so funny and appropriate to the verse. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for all your kind words and undying support. Reader like you keep me motivated and writing. I am sending you back tons of love and well wishes for a great weekend in NC. β£πŸ’“πŸ’—πŸ’–πŸ’˜πŸ’

Do these types of poems have a name, where the first letter of each line spells out something? I have always enjoyed such creativity.

Another inspirational poem; your one line about forgetting not what asked reminds me of JFK…

    • Brad Osborne says:

Thanks, Jim! These are acrostic poems. They have a few variations. You can find a post on them under the Whittled Words series. And, hopefully the future here will have a new variation I have been working on. If I can figure it out, that is.

Amazing!!!! You are just so amazing!! Perfectly said for the times, perfect & humorous correlation between your words and the picture you chose. And if course the message of equality for all people! Fantastic!!

  6. Francisco Bravo Cabrera says:

Yes! I like it! The message should always be Freedom for All, Equality for All and All Lives Matter! Great work my friend…
