Old Ways
Like little bursts of strong light
We see our own hypocrisies
Though set to live a life of right
The subtle hates we do not see
Lessons learned when we were young
Taught by ancient schools of thought
Do somehow later then become
A mental trap in which weโre caught
An eye towards race, a judging view
A binary concept of who should love
A socioeconomic skew
A particular sense of God above
Parental thinking no legacy
Nor a genetic disposition
There is a different world to see
Not given in their translation
Yes, they teach us wrong from right
But, we learn to think critically
And there along our path in life
We must find our own integrity
Well said, we need to develop our own sense of right from wrong. The world is constantly changing, and we need to adapt…
Thanks, Jim! You went right to the heart of it!
In this world, we desperately need to. Very well written. A strong message to give. Love the simplicity. Peace and greetings from Sui generis ๐
