So Thirsty

What were you thinking
Had lock down gone too far
Enjoying your drinking
In a crowded bar
I understand youth
And how impervious they feel
But what is the truth
About this virus more real
The patrons I see
Tipping a pint or a drink
Are the same age as me
What is it that they think
I wear a mask each day
For the safety of others
Why should I care anyway
If you canβt be so bothered
You can risk your life
But who else do you harm
This pandemic is rife
And creating such alarm
If this were the only place
That you could get a drink
I would see some trace
Of what it is you think
But there is no thought to this
These crazy things you do
And your alcoholic wish
Could kill me instead of you

This is spot on! The greatest truth resides in the last line, because these are the people who care only about themselves! Your safety and your health, even your life, are meaningless to them. It’s what we call ‘entitlement’.
Thanks sis! Love you!
so absolutely right.
Thanks, Beth!
Houston, we have a problem.
Good morning my dearest Brad. Thank you for this poem. You are the best.
Sending you a hug
Gabriela
Thank you, Gabriela! It was a “need a hug” type of day, so as usual, you are a blessing to my day! Hugging you back!
Oh, Brad,. I am sorry to hear. Glad the day is over. Sending you plenty of hugs.
xoxo
a PSA in the form of poetry – wonderful!
Thanks, Jim! It won’t change anything, but at least I feel better…
you never know the reach of your words…
The whole fricken world needs to read this poem!!! Hear, hear, Brad!!!! You tell em! I wish you could have seen me fist bumping the air as I read your poem!!
Thank you, dearest Kristian! May not change anything, but I have said my peace. Hope you are well and staying positive! Love to you both!
Spot on my friend! A great poem that tells it all like the truth should be told. Here in my city we are doing pretty good but I am feared of the young (and not so young) which are demonstrating their imprudence and irresponsible behaviour. I do not understand the rebellion reference the mask! It is the freaking law! You must wear it! I wear it and here we walk, we do not use motor vehicles in the city (trying to keep the carbon footprint small) and it is hot now (34 degrees) but I still wear the bloody mask! People have to understand what the better good is all about and stop being so selfish!
I loved the poem, it is beautifully written and the message is perfect!
All the best my friend,
Francisco
I agree with you , my friend! Many have made great sacrifices for this country and have often chosen the greater good. Why is it such a sacrifice to wear a mask to keep yourself and others safe. You and I have both risked our lives to keep the people of this country safe, and these idiots won’t wear a mask in return. Have a grand weekend, Francisco!
You too Brad! Enjoy your weekend and stay safe

Lovely Jupiter! Thank you so much for visiting and all your kind words. I know how very busy you are and appreciate you taking the time to stay a while. You are the best! From your loving moon π
You’re welcome, darling Moon. I hope that you are well, and I look forward to reading all I’ve missed over the last couple of weeks xxx
You are too kind, my sweet Jupiter! No matter how often you stop by, your gravity always pulls at me and I would feel lost without it. π
