Greener Grass
How many days in a row of sun
Before you longed for the rain
How many days, cloudy grey in one
Before you seek sun again
How many miles walked in row
Before you hope for wanted rest
How long can you idle and not go
Before moving is seen as best
How many meals can you eat in a day
Before you think it is greedy
How long holding hunger at bay
Before you understand the needy
How many times must heart be broken
Before you hide it away
How long can love go unspoken
Before you seek it each day
Why do we have the demeanor
And give life to such pretense
We know that grass is always greener
From the other side of the fence
Oh yes, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. A thought that has travelled through time and it is still as true and as valid as always and as well a lesson that we always fail to learn…Very interesting and thought-provoking poem. Great work, my friend!
I am guilty of seeing the greener grass to my friend. It may well be a part of our nature. Thank you for all your kindness and friendship, brother!
My pleasure my friend!
ah, but is it? I love this poem
Thank you, Beth! You make my grass greener!
wonderful poem, Brad. to me, it suggests we should just focus on the present moment, and not hope for a different future…
Thanks, Jim!
It seems that part of human nature prohibits us from ever feeling satisfied—Well-captured in your words, Brad.
Thank you, Peter!
Ah, my dearest Brad
“How many times must heart be broken
Before you hide it away
How long can love go unspoken
Before you seek it each day”
You tell me how many times. I am listening.
Gorgeous poem, Brad. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Gabriella! Someday I will tell you!
Lovely.
Thank you, Amanda!
I mean wow, this is exceptional poetry Brad. By far one of my favourite. How wonderfully you have shown a contrast between feelings, not a very easy task go do. I think by far this poetry explain best the notion of grass is greener on the other side. This one will stay with me forever!
Thank you, V! I greatly appreciate all your support!
Welcome 😊
How very true! Often times, we think the grass is greener, only to find out it’s more blue than green. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, but learning to be content with what he have is a good practice too. I’m all about the balance. Lovely poem!
Thank you, Kristian! Everything in life is about balance!
