Tuesday Tidbits #31

Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!

There is a science to all manner of linguistic traits and practices. These can be studied and used as tools by a writer. But there is no formula or equation that will create the art of writing. Beauty is left to the words of the creator and cannot be measured.

I copyright my work, as most writers do. It is an important part of owning your artistic property. But I also publish at every opportunity, regardless of monetary rewards. I give most of my work away. Owning it is far less important to me than sharing it.

There is a poem in me that I have been looking for all my life. I know it is in there somewhere. I don’t know what it is about or what it looks like, but I will recognize it as soon as it finds its way to paper. I will spend a lifetime waiting for it to find its way home, if need be.

How do I measure my own success as a writer or artist? No one has asked me to stop writing yet. I see that as a success.

Some people have referred to my work as having a gift. All I can tell you is that I have never worked this hard at a gift before. Sometimes, it is more curse than gift.

When giving opinion on another artist’s work, I always try to give a detailed reference to what I liked or did not like about a certain piece. It is in these details that opinion may find root and feed the soil to nourish the artist’s growth.

Who are you? What do you believe? What are your hopes? What are your fears? How do you see the world around you? Do not let the lack of question marks in my writing deter you from understanding that everything I write is always asking those same questions.

Now get out there and write something!

These are all excellent. The gift is for us, you are the word factory, working hard, churning gifts out for us, and we appreciate you all the more for them. Thank you for your hard work.
