A Narrow Path
~~~
Fate hangs in azure strung long
A narrow and harrowed path
Desires, the apparition strong
Dances with balatron laugh
~~~
Neβer stays the hand, tiller wrought
Destiny trumpets its own voice
No matter what you have sought
Nothing was chosen by choice
~~~
In ruddy sheen mantle born
Vestige of an honor bound
Scarred oath in ritual sworn
Blood red on hallowed ground
~~~
Sweet smoke and the clamor call
In runes of battle burns truth
The gaud of life will befall
And you will be left the proof
~~~
Sing and herald fabled song
And let that balatron laugh
Fate hangs in azure strung long
A narrow and harrowed path
~~~
and that path can be scary or exciting, never knowing ahead exactly where it will lead. nice word portrait here, brad –
Thank you Beth!
Digging this one, Brad. It has a beautiful classical feel. You have me carefully deconstructing stanzas here, and yet so full of just flavor regardless of meaning.
Thank you kindly, Sudra!
You captivated me with this one! ππ
Aww..thanks Kristian! π
the picture goes so well with your words.
I had to look up a couple of the words – gaud and balatron. I might have to try and sneak balatron into conversation… π
“Gaud” is simply the noun derivative of a common adjective, “gaudy”. Now “balatron”, that was admittedly a stretch. Sneaking it into a conversation would be quite the challenge. Thanks for playing along, Jim!
I may just call someone a balatron under my breath… π
That’s a wonderful poem Brad. I ache when I read it. Should I?
I hope so… Wait! What are you aching for?!? π
I don’t know. I felt sad when I read it. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the poem pre se. Are you ok Brad?
IT is a bit on the sad side. I am well and happy. And you, G? A rainy day with no riding, but you are still on the list!
I am glad to hear you are well and happy and glad I am still on the list. It’s sunny and crisp here. A beautiful crisp autumn day , my fabulous poet.
Brad this is simply beautifully written. I love the lines –
“In ruddy sheen mantle born
Vestige of an honor bound
Scarred oath in ritual sworn
Blood red on hallowed ground”
Great line everyone. I hope you are having a great day my friend. I am sending you love and hugs today along with some nice morning glories. Love ya Joni
Thanks Jonikins! You are the best!
Your writings are beautiful Brad. It is my pleasure to read your work. You are an inspiration to me. I am behind on my readings. I will try and catch up. My old neck injury has been flaring up and I have been trying not to be on my phone or computer. You are a sweetheart Brad. Sending you love and hugs my friend. β€οΈππ€Joni
A great poem my friend, these words are so true: “No matter what you have sought
Nothing was chosen by choice.” Very well written and lovely indeed.
Have a great Sunday my friend!
Francisco
Thank you, Francisco! You enjoy your Sunday as well!
My pleasure my friend.
Love it. Very fitting too, as I am in Sedona
Life is all about timing!
For me this piece is like a rebellion song, it has a lot to show yet gives a sense of loss. Word choice is also brilliant, always learn something new from your writings. Wonderfully written Brad !
Thank you, Vinayak! I appreciate you and your kind words!
