Bound By Honor

~~~
The red ink of history written
Drips long from the blades of man
Driven in a petulant lust to own
Human spirit, as if conquered land
~~~

The fallen brave, lives unsaved

Decaying memories hard bled

Hide in the stringent smoke of lies

And the truth is wanting misled

~~~
Let distance seen in mirrored view
Bear no hidden, no unclear sight
For every banner raised in war
Was raised with a thought of right
~~~

But what you see and free to me

The reasons we chose for arms

Will lead to unneeded travesty

Unneeded the humanly harm

~~~
Death comes for the mortal soul
No need to take, no more to give
No honor found in how we die
Honor bound in our choice to live
~~~

    Brad this is beautiful writing and such heartfelt stanzas. Everyone poignant and holding such truths. I can’t help but often think of my poor father and the cost that the Korean war had upon his life so many years later as he was just a child really when he went into the war, not yet sixteen.
    Thank you for this amazing work. Love and many hugs to you my dear friend. Jonikins πŸ€—πŸ’•β€οΈ

    Only those who have gone to war, or those whose lives have been destroyed by war, can understand that war is the stupedest invention of mankind. Those who opt for war know nothing of war, that is why they like to rattle their sabres but had they ever been in even one battle or skirmish, they would always think twice. You’ve written a beautiful piece, a true homage to peace. Thank you!
