Forward

~~~
Lifeless eyes stare behind
Feared monsters of the past
Lurk in faint candlelight
Haunting shadows are cast
~~~

Regrets the chalice fill

Rue the overflowing

In hopes left from what will

Pain comes from the knowing

~~~
The icy chill blows cold
That body blades against
We feed the sting of old
In words we never meant
~~~

Behold the wishes burned

On the altar of time

The thought of love unearned

Seen as a dying crime

~~~
These ghosts will never last
Staring back from the night
Until your time has passed
Forward keep your sight
~~~

    Forward always, don’t even step back to get some impulse, a most beautiful and poignant work my friend.

    I’m sure we all have regrets, but we’ve got to keep moving forward…

    Beautifully written my friend but sad. An unfortunate part of war that I will never understand how people cope with just the weather and lack of very basic comfort. I can’t even imagine the rest. I hope you are well Brad and that you are able to get away and do some things occasionally. We are stuck at home and it is a bit trying not to see others. Keeping you in my heart and prayers. Love ❤️ Jonikins

    Beautifully written, Brad! It’s hard not to let the troubles of our past haunt us at times, but you’re right, we shouldn’t live there. Keeping our sights set ahead, moving forward, learning and growing from our past is important. Very wise advice wrapped beautifully in a poem. Bravo! 👏❤

    I don’t know how you do it but this one is a star of a poem. Happy Sunday , Brad.

    Nothing wrong with occasionally looking back as long as we’re trying to learn from past mistakes.
