When Darkness Falls

~~~
It is like drowning in the night
Ebony shades pulled against right
Evil thoughts dance with delight
Lack of circumstance bears no mind
~~~

When winning is well worth the fight

And narrowed by hatred the sight

Then we all suffer the same plight

Human removed from humankind

~~~
The biases to which we cling tight
Gripped hard by knuckles turned white
In a world gone so contrite
There is little good to find
~~~

All the wishes wished in spite

And hope that is only might

Must we nibble as you evil bite

With words that seemed so kind

~~~
Is this what we leave behind
The fate of man so well resigned
And thus, how our lives defined
If we do not choose to be the light
~~~

  2. “If we do not choose to be the light” a brilliant phrase my friend to complete a brilliant poem. The truth is inherent in you words, precisely placed and perfectly chosen. I quite admire your ability to send forth such a powerful message. Great work!

    Love, love, love this! The darkness is always lurking, but darkness is only the absence of light, so if we shine our light, we illuminate the dark. So well written. I loved the flow too. ❤❤❤
