You Linger

Like a faint wisp of smoke

Or a letter unread

Like an itch I can’t get to

You linger in my head

Like a subtle May breeze

Or a good word kind said

Like a tattoo in ink

You linger in my head

Like the scent of a rose

Or of brave blood well shed

Like a haunting fairy tale

You linger in my head

Like an over-due task

Or a hunger unfed

Like a siren memory

You linger in my head

Like a favorite song

Or the feel of warmed bed

Like love left ungiven

You linger in my head

  1. This caused me pause, made me question in someone lingering in my head like this is a “good” or a “bad” thing. I think I believe it must be both. Garth Brooks put it in a song, “…I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance…”.

It has always amazed me how something can be both haunting and beautiful at the same time, you have described it perfectly. 💖

You are such a romantic Brad. I love this poem it speaks of great admiration and perhaps regret. Beautifully written the ending is so perfect and I love the picture you chose.

You couldn’t write such beautifully expressive poems about love and life if you weren’t. It is cold and will get colder next week. We may even have a freeze tonight. The weather will never be the same. I hope you will be full of wonderful romantic stories which you will share. Sending you too much love to carry and dreams for love to come to you. Love You Jonikins 🤗💕❤️🦋

Some things just linger in your head for days, even weeks, some people do as well…it’s good and at the same time a bit tiring…but your poem is brilliant, it has a great rhyme scheme and it really flows like a good song! All the best my friend,
