Alive
~~~
Mist hangs like a veil
Over water dead still
Teasing the vision
With ghosts in gray
Dawn has yet to shimmer
In places this low
~~~
Dew licks the leaves
Condensing and damp
As nature drinks the air
Drops drip to young below
The scent of decay
Rises from the floor
~~~
Nothing stirs
Silence weighs heavy
No song of breeze
No crescendo of life
Just an unseen clock
Ticking to nowhere
~~~
Moments stretch like taffy
Sugary sweet and long
Stillness pervades the spirit
Each breath a connection
Exhaling the heart
And nourishing the soul
~~~
It is here, always will be
The most ancient of things
Strongest in its frailty
Unburdened of future
We touch the holy
And we feel alive
~~~
Beautiful..💐❤️ Stay blessed 🙏
Thank you Diana! Namaste!
silence weighs heavy – yes. and this is such a soul nourishing place to be
Thank you, Beth! We sometimes forget how connected we are to the world around us.
I love misty, foggy mornings. And your mention of taffy brings back memories of watching people make it on the boardwalk…
One of my favorite visuals. Like pulling a grilled cheese sandwich apart. Thanks Jim!
now every time I see fog, I’ll think of a grilled cheese sandwich 🙂
I am always thinking about a grilled cheese sandwich…🥪🧀
Love the imagery in this. The picture you paint with words is so vivid! You’re quite the artist, my dear!
Thank you pretty lady!
Lovely and deep piece of poetry!
I have written a poem about mist too 😀
Thank you, Prema!
