Laddered Life
~~~
Many see life as a road
Wide enough to share
Symbolic of our journey
Metaphorically the fare
~~~
Through peak and sunset valley
As our days wane into night
Thinking where we find ourselves
Came from choosing left or right
~~~
But life is not so easy this
A linear chart of time
A life lived to its fullest intent
Has always been a climb
~~~
A ladder of singular steps
An equal distance each one
The only question up or down
As you step to the next rung
~~~
That is the choice we must make
One of two directions, you see
Up the next rung whatever it takes
Or climb down and never be free
~~~
We are the only ones who can choose this for ourselves
Very well said! My brother used to tell me life is a ladder, but his words weren’t as elegant as yours. It is true, though. Truly successful people had to put in the work. I also like this analogy because it can be applied to all aspects of life, sometimes we don’t see what’s coming, and we get knocked down, but just like the ending of your poem, we can climb back up or stay there. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
Nice blog
Thank you Saania!
Life is full of decisions. Hopefully, we climb that rung more often than not.
Thank you , Pete!
