Winter Woods
~~~
As I walked in the winter woods
Amongst a chorus of white pines
Singing their benediction to the moon
In a silence as deep as the sea
~~~
Long dead leaves made no protest
The elderly tipped in grey frost
Held no thought, this passage of time
Their progeny buried in their decay
~~~
The gentle sigh of a north wind
Pushed the world to sleep
And a hush fell like a lullaby
Mother Earth bid her rest
~~~
My soul seeped into the loam
Melting into everything
I was both lost and found
As I walked in the winter woods
~~~
Beautiful in word, tone and visual!
Thank you Sis!
Lovely poem my friend! Today is “Noche Buena” for us here in Spain, it’s the night we celebrate, so I am off to eat and drink with good friends and family (no more than six by law and we must be back home by 00:00 hours, which is our curfew) but we will do as most other Europeans do, and eat early. π Have a very Happy Christmas with your family and loved ones and we will be back on WP after the weekend! All the best my friend,
F.
Enjoy your night of celebrations, my friend! Best wishes to all of you!
Thank you my friend, you too, I hope you enjoyed Christmas Eve and that today will be a lovely day!
You have captured that feeling of being one with nature. There’s nothing quite like a walk through the winter forest, when the earth is so still, one can hear the snow fall. Beautiful!! ππ I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you I had a lovely holiday. Hope yours was special too! Thanks for everything, Kristian!
Winter woods, it’s a read that can provide solace to a distressed soul. You take the reader to visually fascinating and serene journey of our beautiful nature. Another of your poetries in my best list. ππ
Thank you my dear friend!
