Scared

~~~
My mind plays tricks on me
The kind without a laugh
Spirits haunting memory
As I walk my solemn path
~~~

In all the words written

This is what goes unsaid

All the things that came before

And where those things have led

~~~
Even with the closest friends
The ones I hold most dear
I have no words to share with them
When it is time to speak of fear
~~~

An outward, inner strength

What they see as unafraid

Is all my fears well hidden

A character well portrayed

~~~
There is little hope of change
Little hope that one safe day
I will find the courage lacked
Truth spoken in the words I say
~~~

You share your fears so openly

In hopes of the others to save

Whatever you may think of mine

Your words are much more brave

~~~
    We are all only human, my dear.
    Oh I think you are braver and more honest with your writing than you give yourself credit for dear Brad. We all have fears I believe that we keep to ourselves if we are completely honest and of course most people are not. It takes courage to admit that you have fears. You share a lot of yourself in your poetry and to me, that is what makes your poetry so beautiful.
    Sending love to you my dear friend. Wishing you joyful thoughts and sunshine and happiness.
    Love ya Jonikins🤗💕❤️⭐️
  4. Jim Borden says:
    I don’t think people like to make themselves appear vulnerable..
    I know a lot of guys who see the admittance of fear as some type of weakness. The truth is we’re all afraid of something.
  6. Francisco Bravo Cabrera says:
    Great poem Brad. Fear is part of the human condition, not a flaw, it is a warning light that as wise and prudent humans we must not ignore. Great work!
  7. In our grandparent’s generation, men would never admit to having a fear of anything because they believed in the firm role of ‘protector’. In a way, men have been urged to change that because women want a man who is human and emotionally accessible. We will, for our lifetime, keep some things for even those we most love and trust. I believe it’s not because we don’t trust them, but because we see the things we keep hidden as unlovable.
    Another well thought out and well written poem!
