Scars do not protect a heart
Old wounds are oft renewed
Like battered brow of boxer
Gloved till blood is spewed
~~~
Safety cannot be erected
Like the building of a fence
Pain cannot be deflected
By wishes or vain pretense
~~~
No matter how you try
Making your heart hardened
There is always a bit of risk
And failure goes unpardoned
~~~
Yet, we spurn the tacit pain
That may well there await
And the risks we gladly take
We barely contemplate
~~~
A heart so bloodied and beaten
Not as defeated as it seems
Enters the ring to face each fight
For the love dreamed in its dreams
~~~
I think that the heart never gives up trying
I agree Beth! Silly heart! ๐
I think it’s courageous to remain soft-hearted in a hard world!
That is a nice way of seeing things Kristian!
We are all full of scars, and with the knowledge that time erases them. The boxer is a fab analysis and the poem was smashing!
All the best,
F.
Thank you Francisco!
Youโre very welcome Brad!
I have mixed feelings about your message, but the poetry was excellent!
I have mixed feelings about everything, so don’t feel bad….๐ Thanks sis!
Making ourselves vulnerable is part of joy vs. pain. It’s a risk worth taking.
You make an important point Pete! Thank you!
what doesn’t kill the heart makes it stronger…
