Feline Envy

~~~
There is always food and a sunny place to nap
And if I am in the mood, Iโ€™ll sit upon your lap
Just coo your loving words and stroke my silky fur
And all I am required to do is sit there and purr
~~~

You call me by name, but I only come when I want

I donโ€™t sit or beg, I am not expected to do stunts

I do as I please and you are accepting of this

You see to my every whim and demanding wish

~~~
There are no lists of chores for me to get done
My day is all about eating, napping, and fun
I will patiently listen as you unspool your day
But not really understand a word you say
~~~

I will be indifferent, barely domesticated

But living a luxurious life uncomplicated

And what life could be any grander than that

If you loved me the way you love that cat

  1. Do we give unconditional love to our pets because they give us unconditional love first? Is that 100% possible with humans? Nonetheless, you’ve given me insight as what I might want to “become” in my next life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. You are playful here and I love it. Beautifully written. Before I got to the end I was thinking โ€œI want to be a cat. My own catโ€ ๐Ÿ˜Š The finale changed some things ๐Ÿ˜Š. Have a great week Brad โค๏ธ

    Love it! I’ve been told by some, “I wish I was your dog!” Perhaps I DO dote over her more than most humans.

  4. Well, as a cat lover, I have to love this poem. So well written my friend! A great way to say what a cat would say…really good work! Take good care and all the best,

    Never have I ever been so envious of a feline. Fun and playful, and oh! How I love your endings! ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป
