Tuesday Tidbits #52
~~~
Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!
Poetry is such a nuanced, textured, and highly personal art that history shows the greatest poets as merely soloists. It is predominantly what any poet writes. Collaboration is elusive in this arena of id and ego. But it certainly still holds up the old adage of two heads are better than one.
My biggest challenge is writing outside of a chronological structure. I can have an end and work backward. Or have a beginning and work forward. But I have never been able to start a poem in the middle.
It is easier to write about people who have passed away. Dead eyes carry no disappointment with your work.
I miss the good old days of my youth. Where even my most rudimentary and least palatable works of art or writing, at a minimum, garnished a prized spot under the car repair magnet on the kitchen refrigerator for few days.
Mastery in writing has nothing to do with language or words in general. Mastery is overcoming all the interior hurdles you devise for yourself as why what you have to say is not important. Once you have overcome them, you have mastered writing. Everything else is subjective.
I cannot always articulate why I like a certain piece of any art. I think, like most people, I just feel some intrinsic connection to the work, vis-Γ -vis, I like it. And being unable to detail that connection does not lessen it.
Friends are those people who agree with you often enough to make you feel comfortable with who you are and disagree often enough to keep you humble.
Now get out there and write something!
I love the friends definition!
Thanks Beth! Good friends are priceless!
Two of these spoke to me: 1. The definition of a friend. 2. The humor in the crap that got posted on the refrigerator for a few days.
Thanks Pete!
That definition of friends is superb! As always, this edition does not fail, rather it stimulated the thought of going to the portable and writing! Cheers my friend, loved it!
F.
Thanks Francisco! You are always so generous with your support.
My pleasure Brad, youβre very welcome!
Love the definition of friends, the memory of your youth, and, Oh, who am I kidding!? I loved them ALL!! Hey, I just received 100% on two of my assignments. Maybe I should print them out and hang them on my fridge!! Or post them to my Instagram, which I like to think of as my online refrigerator. ππ€£
Thanks Beth! Two perfect scores are definitely worth an Instagram post. Much love!
Sorry about that slip, Kristian. Unless you middle name is Beth! Too early to be posting replies!
No worries. My middle name isn’t Beth, but it is an old-fashioned name, which suits me. π
And is left unrevealed after a poignant tease….Nice!
Haha! You know I like to tease you! π
It’s Lorraine, after my maternal grandmother.
That is sweet!
