Fragile Thing

~~~
Oh, how fragile
A house of glass
From sea to shining sea
~~~

Intricate web

That binds our land

Humble democracy

~~~
Paid for in blood
From sacred sons
Even harder to keep
~~~

Two centuries

A hallowed past

Democracy runs deep

~~~
Forefathers best
To build upon
Sheltered from tyranny
~~~

But, oh this child

This fragile thing

Blessed democracy

~~~
    So beautiful Brad. I hope people will stop and think about what you are saying before that Democracy is ever treated with disregard. So many have paid such a cost for our freedom. I can’t pick a favorite stanza as they are so beautifully written each and every one. Men like yourself who have done so much to protect our Country. Love ya Brad. Sending love, hugs and great respect to you my friend. 🤗❤️💕🤗🌸🌺Jonikins
    Democracy, as imperfect as it is in our version, continues to be tested.
    A beautiful poem and a very real and pertinent message. Democracy was almost eroded with your last president and now must be rebuilt and protected, but not necessarily with guns and bullets but with education and guidance. Wisdom is venerated by her children…
    Lovely work my brother!
