Island Rains

~~~
Raindrops unwind down palm leaves
Washing little dreams to ground
Hibiscus scents sweet sullen air
The heat lingers all around
~~~

Butterflies chase small kisses

Reflected in the moonlight

Steel drums tin in ragged time

As day whispers to the night

~~~
Come now moon, oh timid one
Find a tear in the clouded skies
Beam on us your loving light
Reflected from warm brown eyes
~~~

No strength to stop the rain by will

Silver orbed jewel, hidden remains

Yet I find myself falling for you

As softly as the island rains

~~~
    I wouldn’t mind being on a island, even if it is raining… as long as it’s war…
