Island Rains
~~~
Raindrops unwind down palm leaves
Washing little dreams to ground
Hibiscus scents sweet sullen air
The heat lingers all around
~~~
Butterflies chase small kisses
Reflected in the moonlight
Steel drums tin in ragged time
As day whispers to the night
~~~
Come now moon, oh timid one
Find a tear in the clouded skies
Beam on us your loving light
Reflected from warm brown eyes
~~~
No strength to stop the rain by will
Silver orbed jewel, hidden remains
Yet I find myself falling for you
As softly as the island rains
~~~
So beautifully written,, every word is a word to die for in this poignantly nostalgic verse.
Thank you Pete! Hope you and yours are well!
I wouldn’t mind being on a island, even if it is raining… as long as it’s war…
Good point, Jim! Fear not, our warm is just around the corner…🌞
although I heard the groundhog saw his shadow today…
I was count on a early riding season, but Phil let me down….stupid groundhog!
well, according to Beth, it seems like Phil is wrong more often than he is right, so you may get your wish… 🙂
