Tuesday Tidbits #58

Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!

All learning comes from allowing and hearing dissent. No epiphany is ever gained by a closed mind. If what you believe, what you hold as most dear and true, withers in the light of a dissenting view, then you must question how strongly you believe. And within any changed perspective not only knowledge, but wisdom, is gained.

The poet writes with an inflection and diction to their words. The nuanced and subtle gestures of a spoken language in dialogue. It is incumbent on the artist to place phrasing, pauses, and punctuation in a way that leads the reader to this tone and timbre. They must hear the emotions in their own heads as they read.

Oh, to be the voice of a generation, but that is not realistic in a global society where living varies greatly on scale. It is a considerable task just being the voice of one, to be honest. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, for there are far too many shoes and miles to walk to be anything else.

I am desperate for a broader view of life and humanity, unrestrained by the narrow vision created by a life that followed a specific path. It is within the words and worlds of others that real growth lies. But not if you are unwilling to listen or read.

In all the amazing things that have come to fruition during my many years of life, I still find myself sometimes waxing nostalgic. Longing for the past, with all of its shortcomings, when life just seemed a little simpler. And people seemed to care a lot more.

I am all for looking forward. But every once in a while, it is good to take a peek behind us, if only to appreciate how far we have come and recognize how far we have left go.

As writers, we give our readers many things within our words. We can share perspective, emotions, and insight. But our greatest gift to others is that of hope.

Now get out there and write something!
