Circus Squirrel

~~~
What is he doing up there
Rascal with the brownish hair
Walking the wire
To his heart’s desire
Twenty feet up in the air
~~~

Makes his way to and fro

Nary a paw touches snow

Safe off the ground

He’s been prancing around

As if he has nowhere to go

~~~
He uses the telephone wires
For the mobility he desires
A cabled byway
Now sabled highway
Above the muck and the mire
~~~

Wallenda not great at all

Compared to this artist small

A picture of grace

In such a high place

It seems he could never fall

~~~
Tiny hands gripping the surface
Moving with speed and purpose
Sure-footed and quick
Quite acrobatic
This squirrel belongs in the circus
    I’ve often been impressed by their skill and agility. very natural circus performers
    they do like to show off their skills, but I haven’t seen a squirrel carry another one on its back while walking across the wire or riding a bike.. 🙂
    This is the most cleaver poetry. It reads a lot like a limerick and I am often entertained by squirrels while I write. What a great piece describing these funny acrobats. Sending love and lots of warm hugs my friend. 🤗❤️Jonikins
      Thank you, Jonikins! You have a good ear as it is a limerick form. Probably one of the most recognized forms of verse as its meter is so common to even the average reader. I find them to be entertaining as well. Thanks for all your loving support!
        I loved it. We have done so many things to squirrel proof our bird feeders without hurting the squirrels of coarse so your limerick made me laugh out loud. You are so talented Brad. The timing was so perfect. You have such skill. Hope you are having a great day. Sending love and warm hugs as always. Love ❤️ Joni
    They are curious creatures. When we haven’t seen our dog in a while, the first place we check is the nearby trees where she is fascinated by the antics of the squirrels.
