Burn It Down
~~~
I did not start the fire
But I laughed as the world burned
Warmed in the pyre
Of all the lessons yet unlearned
Sorting chaff with an ire
~~~
What little you must know
Unfound, an ounce of sanctity
In all the hate you sow
Words like weeds to humanity
Strangling as they grow
~~~
You cannot bait me small as this
Opinion offers no reprieve
Spiritual poison in the kiss
Cannot change what I believe
Regardless, what you may wish
~~~
So, burn it to the ground
If that is your great desire
But my words will not be found
Fanning your hateful fire
It is in truth my words are bound
~~~
well said, not adding to the fire of hate
Thank you!
Bound in truth! Well said, admirably my friend and a lovely poem, filled with the passion that is quite required when confronting those who hate and destroy. Congratulations!
And have a great weekend!
Opinion offers no reprieve”
Thank you kindly Shruti!
I need to come visit this blog more often! Your content is amazing 🙂
This is so beautifully expressive my friend. All the lovely words of your poetry can’t be burned for the glory, the pictures (images) placed in the mind of those who read your work will own. Hate can’t destroy that part of the poet our work exist long after we are gone. Hugs and love ❤️ Jonikins
Thank you kindly, Jonikins! 🌹💖
