Sheet Music

My tears wrote a love song

On the letter you left behind

How can there be such pain

In these words, written so kind

Neatly penned small paragraphs

Capture the rhythm of my tears

And note a haunted minor melody

As the ink in tragic lines smears

A funeral dirge to love now past

Fashioned upon your final clef

And this ghosted score of romance

Now, the only thing I have left

I have heard it now, for so long

I know all the words by heart

I can see the pain that’s coming

Before the music even starts

With time, my hope, it will fade

As all the saddest songs do

And in the quiet there made

I will finally hear something new
