Leave Me Alone

~~~
Leave me alone
To wallow in my tears
To wrestle my demons
To battle my fears
~~~

Leave me alone

You cannot be so close

The deeper I fall

The darker it grows

~~~
Leave me alone
I do not need your help
I have died this death
Many times by myself
~~~

Leave me alone

So, the bottom I find

Scratching and clawing

To hold onto my mind

~~~
Leave me alone
To make peace with the past
To quiet the ghosts
In the horrors that last
~~~

Leave me alone

I promise to return

When the fire is out

And the evil has burned

~~~
Leave me alone
As hard as it may be
Until I can find
The part that is me
~~~

Leave me alone

This pain you cannot share

This mantle is one

That only I can bear

~~~
  1. Thanks for diving into my psyche and writing a poem about it!
  2. beth says:
    painful and sad
  3. I can completely relate to the poem. The depiction of pain is raw, and many ways leave me alone make sense as no matter how much ever we are surrounded with people or not, most of the difficult battles are always fought alone. Wonderful write and another of my favourites.
  4. Jim Borden says:
    sometimes we just need to be alone, but sometimes we need someone else to help us get out of our funk…
  5. Francisco Bravo Cabrera says:
    A most needed loneliness is one that only one can require. A most powerful poem. Lovely indeed my friend,
    FBC.
  6. petespringerauthor says:
    We all want to be by ourselves at times, but when children say this repeatedly, it is usually a cry for help.
  7. Harley Reborn says:
    *sits across from you, tilts head to the side, and stares*
