Sleep, my love, now sleep

Let twilight fall into night

And I will hold you near

Your head on my chest

My heartbeat in your ear

Shed the worries of the day

Exhale the troubles of your mind

As safe in my arms you lay

Love in my heart you find

Breathe deep the lilac in the air

And dream of all that’s right

No harm can befall you here

Kissed in beautiful starlight

~~~

And I will watch over you

My angel, as you sleep

On the ‘morrow I’ll see you through

With the promises that I keep

And when dawn greets day anew

And the stars seem to leave the sky

Remember these words of my love true

Within a lover’s lullaby

Sleep, my love, now sleep
