Tuesday Tidbits #82
~~~
Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!
A child will spend hours building a sandcastle that won’t survive the next tide. Their joy does not lie fraught with tomorrows, it is found in the tiny moments of creation where the imagination runs free. That do not worry about how long it will last, as even a child knows, tomorrow always hold more sand and sea.
A drum set is tuned for pitch, from the brash snap and rasp of the snare to the descending notes of the tom-toms and down to the thump of the bass. It is not only a rhythmic instrument, but one of varied tonal qualities. Good poetry should be like this.
I do not live to write. I write to live. I take small moments and connect with the world around me. I wonder about things and indulge my curiosity. I go places I have never been and places I will always remember. I see faces of loved ones and ones I will never know. I question. I hope. I dream. I pray. And I feel alive.
If I walked into the room and quickly dominated the conversation leaving no air for anyone in attendance to get a word in, you may well think me an incredibly egotistical and rude man. If I, do it on paper, I am a writer.
If you think words have real power, then you have not seen what a flag can do.
I don’t drink while I write. It is not that a little liquid libation wouldn’t being free to the imagination, it is just that it does shit all for my typing.
Nothing weighs heavier than the glass raised to toast a departed friend or the words that speak the goodbyes.
~~~
Now get out there and write something!
~~~
the toast for the departed wields incredible emotional power
Thank you Beth!
I love your description as to why you write, and it is not easy saying those words of goodbye…
maybe if you tried drinking and voice recognition technology, you could avoid the typing part 🙂
Thank you Jim! What a wonderful work around for imbibing while writing!
I’m just trying to help you keep those creative juices flowing 🙂
I love the sandcastle, drums, walking into a room and bidding goodbye hit me the hardest. They’re all so good!!
Thank you Kristian! I am glad you enjoyed them.
Love the first one! There is comfort in knowing you can always rebuild something the next day due to the endless supply.
Thank you, Pete!
I always love all your tidbits but I actually relate to the one about being a writer, partly because I blog to avoid lapsing into the me who can suck air out of a room.
I guess you could call that preventative blogging…Thanks Geoff!
