Absence Undone

How is distance measured

When like the moon

Thoughts of you break upon my shore

The tide of your gravity

Washes the sands

Amid broken shells and remnant starlight

What gap exists

When every bell rings your name

Each mermaid voice in refrain

A salt-water misted memory

Rusting in red, a love stained heart

The orchid scent that calls sweetly

Of the flowers in your hair

Your kisses blowing on the breeze

Sparkling wave-kissed flashes

The moonlit reflections that twinkle

Yet I only see your eyes

A sad reflection in your tears

Across space I feel you there

Absence is undone

As the world delivers your beauty

In all that I behold

You, my love, are never far away
