Tuesday Tidbits #90

~~~
Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!
If you try, you may fail. If you don’t try, you have failed.
I judge myself more harshly than others. It is not from a lack of self-worth. It is just about expectations. I do not demand others meet my expectations, but I do demand it of myself.
You will know me by my thoughts and words. My life story played out in verse and line. No matter how cryptic or veiled my attempts to hide, there is a transparency for any who choose to look.
One of my shortcomings is that I do not write enough in the vernacular of my times. I avoid common words and phrases that can seem vulgar to some, though they are a part of our shared language. Some internal subconscious desire to exalt verse as always beautiful. But even the ugliest of words can reveal the most beautiful truths, and sometimes they are what is needed.
The problem with focusing on writing poetry is you forget how not to write poetry. I just sent a business email with three verses in sonnet.
We give our personal information away to freely now. We empower whole industries to manipulate and control us. We have somehow forgotten that knowledge is power, and all power corrupts.
Character is what remains when all material things are stripped away. It is the difference between who you are with and who you are without.
Now get out there and write something!
    love your business email quote )
  2. I am so very guilty of this: “I judge myself more harshly than others. It is not from a lack of self-worth. It is just about expectations. I do not demand others meet my expectations, but I do demand it of myself.”
    liked the quote about failure, and got a good laugh out of your business email/poetry… perhaps more emails should use such language!
    The one that jumps out at me today is about having high expectations and judging ourselves more harshly than others do. I think that’s part of human nature. The flip side is those people who seem to have an excessively high opinion of themselves that perhaps is undeserved.
    You are so right Brad, we give knowledge of ourselves away so carelessly. We are caught up in the progress of technology and we have become addicted to information. Do we really need so much information? Do we really need so much instant communication? Those of us that are over 50 know the days when none of this existed and we existed and we did just fine. Now I am not against technology, I just don’t want it ruling my life…Cheers my friend for a wonderful set of tid-bits. All the best.
    I really like the transparency quote! So true with my stories.
  7. Ha, yes, your transparency is hard to disguise if business emails contain sonnets! Luckily your transparency exposes much beauty.
    Amen brother!
    “Even the ugliest of words can reveal the most beautiful truths” is one of the best lines I have ever read! I related to so many of these tidbits, but that line moved me.
    I love each of these Brad. Feel free to
    Use the word Darn it anytime. I know what you mean dear Brad. Love ❤️ Jonikins.
