Take Me Back
~~~
It had been months since I laid eyes on her
Though I saw her often in my dreams
A colorful movie of nightly memories
Her hair flowing, scented summer breeze
~~~
But there she was just, as pretty as always
And I hoped she would remember me
The last time I saw her was a sad affair
Though we had loved so desperately
~~~
I left with but a few kind words
And hibernated the winter away
In my heart, spring has returned
Seeing her again on this sunny day
~~~
I take her hand, a remembered warmth
I give great apologies as I wipe her eyes
I tell her all the sweetest words
And offer my poor alibis
~~~
It must be true love, when she smiles back
And our hearts again become one
One touch and her engine roars to life
And we ride off in the setting sun
~~~
What a lovely poem about your #1 greatest love!
Thanks sis!
what a lovely ending –
Thanks Beth!
So sweetly reminiscent.. what a way you have with words. Remarkably beautiful 🤩
Thank you kindly Yasmin!
My pleasure dear Brad.
How nice to get a second chance!
Every spring she takes me back.
And have you given your “friend” a name?
No, I don’t want to become to attached. I don’t want any heartbreak when I trade her in for a newer, sleeker model someday.
Boys and their toys… 🙂
So lovely. Have you put her away, or are you hoping for another sunny day or two before you say your temporary goodbye?
I am holding out for now, but the temps seem to be heading in the wrong direction. Closer to Thanksgiving I will be seriously thinking about putting her to bed. Thanks Kristian! Still owe you a ride!
Yes, you do! 😁 I hope mother nature offers a few more warm days to ride.
A poem that springs from one’s great love has to be beautiful and yours is my friend!
Thank you brother!
My pleasure Brad!
Make the most of a second opportunity.
Always! Thanks Pete!
Beautifully written Brad. A second chance at a love lost and mourned. Yet it returned and you got her back. So lovely. xoxoxoxox Sending my love and many hugs, Jonikins
Thanks Jonikins!
