The Truth
~~~
Nobody thought it ever could
But we have been wrong before
Like the forest full of trees
It has become so very obscure
~~~
When it is bent by all we hear
The repeated lies and fallacies
Where is the truth we hold dear
When ours seem to never agree
~~~
We find our tribe and listen well
To the words that feed our own
And there under rhetoric spell
Truth becomes the lesser known
~~~
We build our own realities
Hand pick what we believe
Surround ourselves in sycophants
Unwilling the truth to see
~~~
So, there it died a mournful death
Where nothing requires proof
And we have laid to final rest
That thing we called the truth
~~~
Loved the poem Brad, especially the ending stanzas, what is what ever will be the ultimate truth, but then we all carry our own versions of it, the factual illusion makes us ignorant that truth is ultimate.
Thank you, my friend! Truth seems to be a moving target anymore.
I look forward to the truth becoming the norm once again
One can only hope. Thanks, Beth!
Great piece and so true. Even if you do your due diligence on your sources for information, it is difficult to know whether or not you have the truth. I guess the answer is to do the best we can to find the truth and hope we get the right information. Thanks Brad. Big hugs this morning. ❤️🤗🦋🥰 love Jonikins
Perfect! Hypocrites are everywhere who only use the truth when it serves their purpose.
Some people use their religion the same way. Thank you, Pete!
here’s to the truth making a comeback…
I certainly hope that is true. Thanks, Jim!
Sad but true. I hope the truth comes back in style!
Me too! Thanks, Kristian!
Like weeds, the truth does have a stubborn resilience going for it.
That is a good point, Geoff. Maybe it wins out in the end be sheer tenacity!
