Northern Lights
~~~
Charged particles paint the sky
Shimmering in blues and greens
Likes ancient spirits sent to dance
And energize the starlit scene
~~~
A spinning iron heart pushes back
Against what the sun can hurl
Photons forged in fusion
Flung at our fragile world
~~~
With child-like eyes we peer
As ghostly colors fly by
And watch as the Great Artist
Composes the wonder in our eyes
~~~
Rare is the beauty to be seen
Within those cold artic nights
Where science melds with magic
In the aurora of Northern Lights
~~~
i would love, love to see them in person, i imagine it to be an awe-inspiring experience. thank you for painting the picture so well with your words.
I promise I have not done them justice. It is something amazing to see them in person. Please add that to your bucket list! Thanks for all the support!
how lucky you are to have seen them, and i will!
I am the luckiest person I know!
Science does seemingly merge with magic, for sure…lovely work my friend!
Thank you kindly, brother!
My pleasure always my brother!
Now I’m jealous… this is on my bucketlist for sure! I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
I’m glad you got to witness such an amazing spectacle, though. Gosh, I’m so obsessed with our sky!
Don’t feel bad. From the dawn of man, we have been obsessed with our sky. Beats the hell out of fireworks, for sure!
Absolutely! Give me natural beauty over anything created by people!
Superbly evoked
Thank you kindly!
I’d love to see these in person some day; what a wonderful tribute you have written to their beauty…
It is worth the effort as they are not quickly forgotten. Thank you, Jim!
I put it on my bucket list!
Those lights are surely something one needs to see in person. You are able to make people crave that experience.
Thanks, Geoff! Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for the Alaskan Ad Council to contact me about publishing my poem!
You should send it to them!
Beautiful writing Brad. I would consider it a blessing to see what you have described so lovely in your poem. Hugs 🤗 Jonikins ❤️
I hope someday you receive that blessing!
I saw them once as a small child, but I don’t think I appreciated their beauty at the time. I want a second chance to see them again as an adult.
Life is all about second chances. Thanks, Pete!
How beautiful! Your poem is so expressive! I have never seen the northern lights except in photos and videos, but I did enjoy reading about them! ❤
My father told of a time in his childhood went the northern lights were seen as far south as Wheeling, West VA. People were kneeling in the streets and praying because they thought it was the end of time!
Thank you for your kind words, Cheryl! I hope someday they find their way south again, or you find your way north!
