Just Lucky I Guess
~~~
I don’t know how I would have found you
What planets would have needed to align
What crazy crossing of paths or plain kismet
The variables are impossible to define
~~~
Some stroke of luck or blessing by chance
Some good karma returned in kind
Fate brings to me a kindred heart
The kind most improbable to find
~~~
I have not always felt this lucky
Or blessed to have you in my life
And with all the love that I confess
We have had our moments of strife
~~~
But family you are, a sister truly loved
Yet how lucky can one man possibly be
That in this life so undeserving
I got a sister who fits perfectly
~~~
what a loving and honest ode to your sister
Thanks, Beth! She is surely one-of-a-kind!
A most beautiful poem to your sister, wonderful thoughts!
Thank you, Francisco!
My pleasure my friend.
Oh, Brad…I am at a momentary loss of words. Not that long ago I was thinking about our toughest years as being siblings, when we were at each other’s throats and were unable to find a kind word about or for the other. Honestly, I don’t know how we ever got from there to here. And now – now I can’t imagine how I ever survived without this relationship we built from the ashes. I know at times my mouth speaks in ways it shouldn’t (yours has done that on occasion as well), but as long as you know my heart is full of pure love for you, we’ll get past it.
I am so proud and so humbled by the man you have – and are still – growing into. You’ve found your way into being authentically you despite the roadblocks set by other people and circumstances in your life. And on top of that, you are an incredible writer! I am fortunate to not only call you (favorite) brother, but to also call you most trusted friend! Thank you for writing this!
Love you, sis! Always have, always will.
My brothers have never penned something this beautiful about me. Of course, neither have I.
No need to write it down when you make the time to tell them every chance you get.
I’ve got a road trip planned in May to see each one as Springers are scattered across the country.
Wonderful to hear! May is just around the corner.
It seems like both brother and sister are very lucky indeed!
We are certainly blessed to have each other. And friends like you put the cherry on top. Thanks, Geoff!
you too seem perfect for each other – what a wonderful tribute!
two… 🙂
Thanks, Jim! I am truly lucky to have her.
I am sure she feels the same about you…
